Beate Teresa Hanika was born in Regensburg in 1976. She spent several years working as a model before turning to photography and writing. Her first young adult novel “Rotkäppchen muss weinen” was published in 2009, and was awarded the Oldenburg Children’s and Young Adults’ Book Prize (2007) and the Bavarian Prize for Emerging Artists (2009).
