Bernd Schuh was born in 1948. He studied physics, chemistry, and mathematics in Cologne. After receiving a Ph.D. in 1977, he completed his postdoctoral studies in physics. Bernd Schuh taught and researched at the University of Cologne and the University of California at San Diego. Today he lives in Cologne and is a freelance author and moderator for radio, television, and journals. He received the German Youth Literature Prize in 2002 for his environmental lexicon published by Gerstenberg Verlag.
