Georg Bydlinski was born in Graz in 1956. He studied English and Religious Education at the University of Vienna, and has been working as a freelance author since 1982, writing poetry, prose, songs and children’s books. Together with Käthe Recheis he has published North American Indian texts in German translation. The author of fifty or so books, he has been awarded various prizes including the Literature Prize of the Province of Lower Austria, the Children’s Literature Prizes of the city of Vienna and of the Province of Styria and, most recently, the Austrian State Prize for Children’s Poetry (2001).
