Hans Traxler, born 1929 in Herrlich, studied painting and lithography in Frankfurt. He was one of the originators of the satirical magazines Pardon and Titanic, and a founder member of the so-called Frankfurt School. With his unerring eye for the great comic potential of people such as Hemingway, Freud and Gorbachev, he soon became a cartoonist for major newspapers such as Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
