|  | | Thomas Hettche
Thomas Hettche was born in 1964 and studied philosophy and German literature in Frankfurt. Following fellowships in such cities as Krakow, Venice, Stuttgart, Rome and Los Angeles, since 2005 he has lived in Berlin as a writer and editor. He is also known for his essays, which have appeared primarily in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. From 1995 to 1999 he was on the jury of the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt, and in 1999 he edited the online literary anthology NULL. He has received numerous grants and prizes for his wide-ranging body of work.
